The Sidney Daily News was previously known as the Shelby County Democrat when it was purchased in 1876 by Amos Publishing founder General James Oliver Amos.[1] The newspaper remained in the hands of the Amos family through 1999.[1] In 2003, Brown Publishing Company purchased The Sidney Daily News from Amos Press,[2] and in February 2009, Tuesday editions were halted due to the weak economy.[3] Brown Publishing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on April 30, 2010.[4]
The Sidney Daily News combined with several other Brown-owned papers in nearby commnunities are now owned by Ohio Community Media Incorporated based at its central printing location in Tipp City, Ohio under the moniker of I-75 Newspapers.
